Comfort classes on City Night Line: With City Night Line, you sleep as you travel and reach your destination rested and refreshed. You have the choice between three comfort categories: Your own Economy or Deluxe sleeper compartment, the couchette car for use by your group or an inexpensive single berth in a multi-berth compartment or the seated car with compartments with 6 seats or roomy open-saloon cars with reclining seats.

Single, Double or Three-Bed compartments:
Up to three can travel conveniently through the night in one compartment. Many technical details ensure a pleasant, comfortable journey, even when the compartment is fully booked. These include beds whose height can be adjusted, with improved access, non-slip floors, large, illuminated mirrors, handles and an extra folding seat (only in the Deluxe compartment) and even an individual wake-up call. If you would like even more space and comfort, you can convert two adjacent compartments into a suite for up to six passengers by means of a combining door. You can combine two Economy compartments or one Economy and one Deluxe compartment. Please note that all passengers have to have a 1st class ticket if you book a combination of Deluxe and Economy.

Many seats have laptop power points and specially designated areas provide interference-free enhanced mobile phone reception. Look out for the mobile phone symbols in the carriages.

Quiet zones are reserved for passengers who want to travel in peace. Experience the feeling of being personally attended to in 1st class. Our specially designated staff are there to welcome you with a smile and help you with any questions you may have regarding your seat or luggage.

The couchette car
Couchette cars are ideal for groups, families or price-conscious individual travellers. Each compartment has room for up to 6 people. You can book individual berths or an entire compartment. When you book an individual berth, the compartment is shared with other travellers. There is no division by sex, but City Night Line offers women travelling on their own special women‘s compartments on all routes (limited availability).

For a small additional charge, the maximum number of passengers per compartment can be limited to 4 people.

2nd Class seated card - Travel overnight at low fare
The seated car is the cheapest comfort class on City Night Line.

Depending on the route, open-saloon cars with convenient reclining seats or compartments with six seats each are used. Washing and toilet facilities are in each car.

  • Milan

    Milano Porta Garibaldi station: Built in 1963 to replace a building destroyed in World War II, it serves 25 million passengers a year. It was restored in 2006 and now boasts all the comforts of a bigger station, with shops, bars, and commercial areas. One of its most noted features is a skylight that allows light to illuminate all the way to the basement level of the station.

    On board Italo, in carriage 8 in Smart, there are 2 seats for passengers with wheelchairs. The seats are located near the toilet for disabled passengers and near the Snack Area of carriage 7, where the vending machines are designed for easy access.
    All the toilets on board Italo have markings for the blind: on the outside pressing an acoustic switch indicates whether the toilet is free or occupied and, inside the toilet cubicle, indications are also in Braille.
    The seat numbering on trains is also in Braille and can be easily found since it is located on the seats adjoining the aisle.

    The Brussels Midi Train Station, also know as the Brussels-Midi/Zuid station opened in 1869. The current building dates back to 1949 and is one of Europe's prinicipal transportation hubs. It is the ideal starting point for train travel to Germany, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom, as well as being linked to the entire Belgian railway network.

    • When you reach your destination, an SNCF staff member will meet you and take you to your meeting point in the station. If you’re changing trains, he'll help you board your new train.
