The Roundtrip travel from Lucerne or Alpnachstad in Central Switzerland, by cogwheel railway
from Alpnachstad or by cable from Kriens.
Pilatus offers a unique excursion with the world's steepest cogwheel railway, spectacular cable car and
modern panorama gondolas. The highlight of the tour is the magnificent view from 7,000 feet above sea
level.
The
cogwheel is the steepest of its kind in the world. It starts at the base of Mount Pilatus in Alpnachstad
and runs over uniquely constructed tracks to the summit of the mountain. Magnificent view of 73 Alpine
peaks and 5 different lakes and the Midlands.

Cogwheel train operates from May to November (depending on snow conditions)
How to reach Kriens and Alpachstad:
- Kriens:
Kriens can be reached from Lucerne by bus. From the panoramic gondola will be boarded and then
a cable car to the top of Mount Pilatus.
- Alpnachstad:
Apnachstad can be reached from Lucerne or Interlaken by train (Golden
Pass Line) and from Lucerne also by boat or train, from where the cogwheel
railway for the summit of Mount Pilatus.
- Note: Swiss pass covers both the boat and train ride from Lucerne or Interlaken to
Alpnachstad and the bus ride from Lucerne to Kriens.
